Special notes for a few models: HP-9100 and HP-9810 These calculators use a 3-level RPN that is a little different. The majority of HP calculators have the version of RPN that is described here. But what it has to do with Poland is beyond what I have been able to figure out. If you've recently acquired your first RPN calculator and it didn't come with a manual, this section will get you started. RPN means Reverse Polish Notation and is well explained on the Wikipedia page. For such simple calculations the number of key presses is the same as for any other calculator, but for more complex calculations is is very logical and much simpler. RPN is this entry system where the addition of two numbers involves writing "2, Enter, 3, +" rather than "2,+,3,=". The re-release is a result of a campaign from users, but unfortunately it was quickly sold out and is no longer available. It is a gift from my children as they knew about my love of these calculators. Below is a Limited Edition HP-15C from the re-release in 2011.This calculator has been produced continuously from 1981 until today. To the right is my HP-12C financial calculator that I recently purchased. To the left is my HP-15C, a scientific calculator which I have used continuously since the 80's.

I happen to be in the first category and these are my RPN calculators: Their focus has been on high-end scientific, engineering and complex financial uses. Their desktop models included the HP 9800 series, while their handheld models started with the HP-35.

But there seems to be two kinds of people: those who love RPN and those who just find it confusing. HP calculators are various calculators manufactured by the Hewlett-Packard company over the years. If I had known the packaging methods newegg uses, I would have bought the calculator somewhere else even if it was a bit more expensive to do so.There is nothing like these RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) calculators from HP. That combined with hps new cost effective "blister pack" packaging left the calculator pretty much unprotected during its journey through UPS to my home. They threw my calculator into an envelope rather than a box. Overall Review: I was very disappointed with the packaging methods used. It appears as though a butcher inserted tools through the reset hole during assembly. There are many scratches surrounding the reset hole in the back of the calculator. The painted buttons under the screen appear poorly installed and slightly nonsymmetrical. The 33s is made in China and the overall feel of the 33s is lower quality than the older hps that were made in Singapore or even Indonesia. The printed characters are far less readable than the older molded-in characters and eventually the printed characters will wear off the keys making the 33s practically useless. The characters are printed on the keys rather than two-shot molded into the keys like on the hps of yesteryear. If you're looking for a new non graphing RPN calculator, there's nothing else on the market and the 33s is a reasonable solution.Ĭons: The cow-catcher shaped keypad presents an unprofessional appearance. The new location of the enter key doesn't bother me as much as I thought it might. No missed keystrokes at all with my unit. The keys are molded plastic and present very good tactile feedback. Pros: If you're familiar with the 32sii, or any of the hp RPN calculators, you'll feel right at home with the 33s.
